SAN FRANCISCO, March 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Sirona Medical, the world’s leading cloud-native radiology software company, today announces that Dr. Curtis Langlotz will join its board of directors. As the Founder and Director of Stanford’s Center for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine and Imaging (AIMI Center) and the immediate past President of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), Dr. Langlotz has been a preeminent force in advancing clinical AI and innovation in medical imaging for nearly two decades. Dr. Langlotz is one of the most highly cited researchers in the application of AI in medicine. His lab at Stanford University has produced many of the nation’s leading researchers and startups in the medical AI field. His 2015 book “The Radiology Report” has come to be viewed as the North Star for radiology reports and the innovation in the reporting process more broadly.
“Sirona Medical is positioned to fundamentally change how radiology is practiced, from how we produce reports to the nature of the report product itself. I’m thrilled to join their Board of Directors and be a part of helping Sirona accomplish its mission of accelerating the transition to AI-powered healthcare,” said Dr. Langlotz.
Ken Kaufman, CEO of Sirona, commented, “Dr. Langlotz has done more to shape AI in radiology than just about anyone else and has been an important technical advisor to Sirona since our inception. As we accelerate our commercial expansion, I expect Curt will be as impactful in our boardroom as he has been to our technical team.”
Dr. Langlotz joins Sirona’s Board during a time of exponential company commercial growth. Over the last 12 months, Sirona has added over 15 new practices to its Unify platform and has doubled usage quarter-on-quarter for five consecutive quarters. Sirona secured a $45M Series C investment to support that growth, enhance its AI-driven unified platform, and scale customer service and support. This round brings the company’s total dollars raised to $108M, a major milestone few have achieved in the clinical AI and radiology IT space.
“Dr. Langlotz was my professor, technical mentor, business advisor, and now, our Independent Director,” added Cameron Andrews, Sirona’s Founder and President. “His brand of technical leadership, professional passion, profound kindness, and intellectual humility personify who we’ve built Sirona to be, as much as his research inspires what we’ve built and how we’ve built it.”
“Cameron walked into my office eight years ago with an idea that I told him would take a lot of money and time to get right,” Dr. Langlotz added. “It’s exciting to see Sirona delivering on that vision Cameron and I share, and I’m looking forward to working more closely with Sirona’s board and leadership team in this new role.”
