Krummen to spearhead commercialization and product evolution of innovative arrhythmia mapping technology
SAN DIEGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Vektor Medical, developer of the world’s first rapid technology to non-invasively map arrhythmias in all four chambers of the heart, today announced the appointment of Rob Krummen as CEO. After five years serving as CEO, Mike Monko will continue with Vektor as executive chairman of the board of directors.
With nearly two decades of experience leading and advising corporations, nonprofits, institutions of higher education and state entities, Rob is uniquely qualified to lead the company in this new capacity. Most recently, he served as president and chief operating officer at Vektor, where he led clinical, regulatory, engineering, and operations. As CEO, Rob intends to continue overseeing these efforts, while spearheading the growth of the company’s commercial and sales teams.
Rob’s appointment comes at a pivotal time as Vektor transitions to a commercial company and focuses on its pilot roll-out of vMap™, its easy-to-use and non-invasive cardiac arrhythmia mapping platform, at select cardiovascular centers of excellence across the country, before making it more widely available.
“Vektor Medical has a unique opportunity to revolutionize the standard of care for arrhythmias, and I look forward to working hard alongside our brilliant team to bring this technology to many more people suffering from serious heart rhythm disorders,” said Rob Krummen, CEO of Vektor Medical.
He continued: “I’m incredibly thankful for Mike’s leadership. As a co-founder of Vektor, he understood the power of Vektor’s mapping technology, and helped bring it to hundreds of cardiac arrhythmia cases. I’m thrilled to build upon the foundation he set and to lead Vektor during this exciting time of commercial expansion.”
Prior to joining Vektor in 2018, Rob helped manage the most-profitable division of a former Fortune 500 company. He is a former partner at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP as well as a former deputy solicitor general for the state of Ohio. He had the privilege of clerking for the honorable R. Guy Cole of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Krummen earned his Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School in 2003.
“It’s been an honor to lead Vektor through the development and launch of our first product. I’ve worked side by side with Rob these last four years and I am confident in his leadership as he takes Vektor into this next phase of growth,” said Mike Monko, Vektor Medical Executive Chairman. “I remain committed to partnering with the team to improve outcomes in cardiac patient care.”
About vMap™
vMap™ is designed to quickly, easily, and non-invasively map arrhythmia sources associated with focal- or fibrillation- type arrhythmias in all four chambers of the heart, the septal wall, and the outflow tracts. The easy-to-use system takes less than three minutes for a clinician to input case information, upload and markup an ECG, and receive a 3D interactive arrhythmia source location map visualizing the inside and outside of the heart.
About Vektor Medical
San Diego-based Vektor Medical, Inc. is the developer of the world’s first technology to rapidly map arrhythmias anywhere in the heart using only 12-lead ECG data. This data is analyzed using proprietary algorithms and computational modeling to create actionable 2D information and 3D cardiac hot spots for the whole heart. The company’s smart, simple, and non-invasive cardiac arrhythmia mapping platform aims to improve first-pass ablation success, lower risks from invasive mapping and long fluoro exposure, and reduce procedure times, all of which are expected to reduce healthcare costs associated with ablation.
